The Book of Fae

I am posting today because I just got done with a several month long project, an altered book I call "The Book of Fae". I researched using several books, the internet and encyclopedias to gather the information I used in the book. Each spread has at least one section of my writing in it (often two, sometimes more) and is then illustrated by my artwork. It is not a fairytale per se but more of a factual guide to the lore of Fairies, their origins, about the race and realm of fae. I played with a lot of different backgrounds and had fun creating my own fairies for the pages.
Here are the pictures I took. I took 90% of the spreads and I am pleased with how most of them turned out.

There are 47 total hand crafted pages that include collage, old photos, lace, ribbon, origami, found objects, original artwork, ribbon, lace, and a bottle of fairy dust.

Now that this is finished I can turn my attention to my newest project a book about mermaids. I have done the same sort of research, although this one will include two stories as well. That's all for now. Have a good one!

Bejewled

I have decided to try selling some of my jewelry on Etsy. I know there is a lot of competition especially now with their new rules but I think I have a unique and quirky style that will appeal to someone. My shop is here and I just posted this item...
It is a medallion and lace choker I created with found poetry from a vintage book, some vintage lace and a little tweaking. I have several other pieces and will be posting these next two over the course of the next couple of days to keep my views up. The first one is Butterflies and Buttons, and the second one is Angel feather.

I created them with the bohemian, shabby chic style in mind. They were all fun pieces to make. To be honest I had a hard time not keeping them as items to wear of my own. I enjoy wearing and bringing the vintage found items I have together with laces and ribbons to create something new and lovely.

As for the studio, it is a mess right now as it is doubling as a planting station for my garden seedlings. I also have been letting my newest project, an altered book about mermaids, get left behind in a pile of vintage papers and mermaid lore left to the wayside. I keep meaning to work on it but I have been distracted lately. We all know how life can get in the way of our creative endeavors. Keep calm and carry on as they, and I mean a lot of they's, have said.
